Why service pressure mattresses

Pressure care only works if the equipment does

Dynamic mattresses are medical devices that run all day, every day. Regular servicing keeps them working as intended.

Faults hide in plain sight

A mattress can look inflated while a cell, valve or pump is failing, quietly reducing the pressure relief a resident needs.

Covers protect against infection

A torn or fluid-damaged cover lets contamination into the foam or cells. We check covers and seams on every visit.

Alarms must work

Low-pressure and power-failure alarms are the warning staff rely on. Each one is tested, not assumed.

Mattress systems we service

We service and repair the pressure-relieving equipment used in care homes, nursing homes, hospices and hospitals:

  • Dynamic and alternating-pressure air mattresses and their pumps
  • Hybrid mattresses that combine foam with air cells
  • Overlay systems used on top of an existing mattress
  • Static pressure-relieving foam mattresses, checked for cover condition and foam integrity

What a mattress service checks

A dynamic mattress works by inflating and deflating cells in a cycle. If the pump, a valve or a cell is failing, the mattress can look fine while the pressure relief is reduced. During a service we test the pump's output and cycle, check every alarm, inspect the cells, hoses and connectors for leaks, test the CPR quick-deflate valve, clean or replace filters, and carry out an electrical safety test on the pump.

Covers and infection control

Mattress covers are the barrier between the resident and the foam or cells underneath. Splits, worn seams and fluid ingress compromise infection control. We inspect every cover and flag any that need replacing; you'll find it noted against that mattress in your report.

Repairs and replacement pumps

Common faults include failed pumps, alarms that don't sound, split cells and damaged hoses. Our engineers carry common parts, and repair call-outs start from £69 + VAT including the first hour. If a pump or mattress isn't worth repairing, we'll tell you and can quote for a replacement through our equipment supply service.

Pair it with your bed servicing

Mattresses and beds work as a pair: a mattress that doesn't fit the bed can create gaps and entrapment risks with bed rails. We check mattress fit as part of every bed service, and can service both on the same visit.

FAQs

Mattress servicing FAQs

How often should a dynamic mattress be serviced?

Most manufacturers recommend servicing dynamic mattress systems at least once a year, with covers checked regularly between services. Systems in continuous use may need more frequent checks. We'll recommend a schedule at your free survey.

How much does pressure mattress servicing cost?

Mattress servicing starts from £55 + VAT per mattress system. The price depends on the type of system and how many we service on the visit. You'll get an itemised quote first.

Can you repair a mattress pump?

Often, yes. Many pump faults are caused by filters, valves or hoses that can be replaced on site. If a pump can't be repaired economically, we'll quote for a replacement.

Do you check mattress covers?

Yes. Every cover is checked for splits, worn seams and fluid ingress, and any that need replacing are flagged in your report.

Which mattress makes do you service?

We service dynamic mattress systems from all major manufacturers. Tell us the make and model when you book.
