Why hospices choose Shepherd
In a hospice, a bed, mattress or hoist that fails affects someone's comfort at the most important time. Reliability matters more than anywhere.
Profiling beds and dynamic mattresses are central to comfort and pressure care. We keep them working as intended.
Engineers work quietly around patients and families, and we plan visits around your rooms and routines.
If a bed or hoist can't be repaired on the day, hire equipment keeps care running while yours is fixed.
In a hospice, a bed, mattress or hoist that fails affects someone's comfort at the most important time. Shepherd keeps profiling beds, dynamic mattresses, hoists and bathing equipment working, from all major manufacturers, with visits planned quietly around patients and families.
Every item goes on a planned preventive maintenance schedule that suits it. Profiling beds and mattresses are serviced in line with the manufacturer's guidance, and hoists, ceiling tracks and slings get their six-monthly LOLER thorough examination on the same visit. One schedule and one report means your records are ready for CQC and your own governance.
When equipment fails, our engineers carry common parts, so many repairs are completed on the first visit. If something can't be fixed on the day, we can provide hire equipment such as profiling beds and dynamic mattresses while yours is repaired.
We supply profiling and low beds, dynamic mattresses and mobile hoists, and install ceiling track hoists with our own engineers, so patients have the right equipment and it's serviced from day one.
From our base in Lee-on-the-Solent we work with hospices and palliative care units across Portsmouth, Southampton, Fareham, Gosport, Winchester and Basingstoke, as well as West Sussex and Dorset, and run contracts across the UK.
How it works
We visit, audit your equipment and asset numbers, send you a written report and look for savings against your current supplier.
A quote for exactly the equipment and service frequency you need. No hidden costs and no minimum number of assets.
Quarterly, six-monthly or annual visits. Engineers carry spare parts so most faults are fixed first time.
Every item barcoded and logged, on our own system, with a bespoke electronic report after each visit that you can log in and download.
