Built for the NHS

Extra capacity for stretched EBME and estates teams

High patient volumes and tight budgets need equipment that stays in service and a contractor that's easy to work with.

Clear, itemised pricing

We quote for the specific equipment to be serviced or repaired before a contract is raised, with no hidden costs, which makes procurement simple.

Full audit trail

Every asset barcoded, with electronic reports and updated asset lists after every visit to support your governance and audit requirements.

Safety alerts monitored

Our management team monitors the MHRA and manufacturers for device alerts and safety updates that affect the equipment we service.

Extra capacity for your EBME and estates teams

Shepherd has over 40 years' experience supplying and servicing equipment for the NHS. We take on the high-volume equipment every trust relies on, including beds, porter chairs, trolleys, couches and patient-handling equipment, so your in-house engineers can focus on specialist medical devices.

Planned preventive maintenance, ward by ward

We build a planned preventive maintenance (PPM) schedule around your wards and sites, with quarterly, six-monthly or annual servicing per asset type and LOLER examinations for hoists and slings. Our engineers service equipment from every major manufacturer in one visit and carry spare parts to fix most faults first time, keeping beds and trolleys in service and patients moving.

Contracts that suit NHS procurement

  • Itemised quotations for the specific equipment to be serviced or repaired, before any contract is raised
  • Flexible frequencies: quarterly, six-monthly or annual, per asset type
  • No hidden costs and clear repair quotes for anything outside the contract
  • A designated point of contact for scheduling, repairs and technical questions

Equipment supply and installation

When equipment needs replacing, we can supply hospital beds, couches, porter chairs and hoists, and install ceiling track hoists with our own engineers. New items are added to your maintenance schedule from day one.

Quality and safety you can evidence

All Shepherd staff are DBS-checked, carry identification and wear our standard uniform. Engineers follow a continual professional development policy, work is regularly checked by senior managers, and we only fit authentic parts from the original manufacturer or a recommended producer. Every asset is barcoded on our own asset tagging system, and your team can log in to download service reports and asset histories for audits and governance.

Working nationwide

We run servicing contracts across the UK. For one national private hospital group, we service every bed and hoist at every one of their sites.

Start with a free equipment audit

We'll visit, record your equipment and current servicing, and send you a written report showing where we can add capacity or reduce costs. There's no charge and no obligation.
